Keep Your Identity Private in Chat

What to share, what to hold back and how to say no.

Share less than you think

  • Use your username. Do not give your legal name, workplace or city.
  • Skip social media handles. A handle can be searched in seconds.
  • Check photo backgrounds. Mail on a counter, a window view or a pet can give you away.

Address talk

Buyers share a delivery spot with the seller in private chat after the order is paid. A PO Box or parcel locker works fine. Sellers never need to share their own address, because the return address is a PO Box or private mailbox. See return addresses and PO boxes.

Keep the deal on the platform

Orders, custom offers and tips all go through checkout. That is where you get seller approval, tracking, the package photo and the 72-hour order-request flow. If someone asks you to pay or get paid somewhere else, say no. Nobody here needs you to leave.

How to say no

Short and calm works. "I keep everything in the app, thanks." If they push, stop replying and use the report button on the message. Blocking is fine too.

If something slips

Shared too much? Ask the other person to delete it, tell support through the contact page, and change any handle you gave out.
